At the heart of biological threats: a multimedia immersion
How can the threat of biological weapons be made tangible? By using multimedia storytelling as an immersive tool. For the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Animal Pensant conceived and produced a scrollytelling landing page.
The Brief
- Produce video and photo reports on disasters in Lebanon, the Philippines, and the Caribbean to highlight the issues raised by emergency situations.
- Design a multimedia landing page to integrate these reports into a broader narrative on biological threats, aimed at experts and policymakers.
- Raise awareness of biological threats by presenting other emergency situations, encouraging decision-makers to implement preparedness and response plans.
Our Solutions
- Put humans at the center of our reports to provoke empathy: our video reports feature moving testimonials from people on the front lines of disasters, while our photo reports focus on portraits.
- A prologue and dystopia-inspired visuals: the scrollytelling landing page opens with a science-fiction–inspired sequence, mirrored in our original illustrations and the overall site design. The goal is to alert audiences through a fictional—but plausible—disaster scenario.
- Soundscapes to enhance immersion: sounds and music are omnipresent, making navigation a multisensory experience.
- A coherent narrative integrating diverse multimedia content: the story presents biological threats through real-world disasters. Testimonials from affected individuals are interwoven with expert insights on biological weapons.
